Hi, sorry for the delay. I was planning on trying to get on here and write daily, but my life just isn’t exciting enough to have something to say every day, so it might be more reasonable to do a weekly update. I hope everybody has had a good week. It’s almost the 4th of July, I’m so ready for a day off. Anybody have any plans? I know not everybody on here is from the U.S, but its still a Friday so maybe you have plans anyway?
An update on my writing:
I have chapter 1 written out, and I’m working on editing: beefing up some scenes, cutting down some things, trying to make the dialog flow a little better, introducing characters, etc. But since it’s chapter 1, obviously, my characters still feel very one-dimensional. While some may stay that way as just background characters, others I promise will get built up and develop personalities. I have the prologue up on my other page if you want to check it out.
Chapter 1 starts with the call to action, which is kicking the main character in the ass to get her and the story moving. We have some family drama, a creepy apothecary shop owner, a possible plague, a secret vision woven in blood and bone, a cursed forest, and a mysterious creature. Trigger warning! There is mention of animal sacrifice, but nothing is actually detailed on the page. Part of the religious system involves shamans, and some of their rituals involve animal sacrifice to “read” the blood and bone to predict the future or the will of the gods.
I will try to finish editing over the next few days and will get the first chapter up this weekend. Let me know your thoughts/ feedback!
